THERE may have been a 0-0 draw between Leeds Medics & Dentists and Horsforth St Margarets, but there was no shortage of goals in the other five matches in the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division – 33 in fact.

Leading the way were Wibsey and Stanningley Old Boys, who shared ten goals, six of which were scored by the old boys.

However, Wibsey were frustrated as they led 4-2 after an hour, only to concede four goals in ten minutes midway through the half.

Danny O'Donnell (2), Jack Holland and Ethan Labad netted for Wibsey, who played as well as they have all season in the first half, but their defence lacked concentration after the interval.

James Allen (2), man-of-the-match Adam Pulford (2), Tom Stewart and an own goal made up Stanningley's tally, but they will need to improve on their first-half display.

Hosts Ealandians led 3-0 at the interval. having had first use of the slope, but ended up on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat to Grangefield Old Boys.

It wasn't just the slope that benefited Grangefield, however, as they made effective positional changes, with Kristian Dacre (2) and Andy Kenyon making it 3-3 before Keelan Milner got the winner, with all of their goals coming following corners.

However, midfielder Damon Nichols, who was outstanding for Ealandians in the first half, missed a gilt-edged chance to make it 4-4 as Grangefield climbed to third.

Basement boys Calverley United recovered from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with fourth-placed visitors Alwoodley, thus earning their first point of the season.

Will Baker netted for the hosts to make it 2-1 but they needed later goals by skipper Ben Cook and, with ten minutes left, man-of-the-match Ben Binns.

Alwoodley had keeper Damian Brodowski sent off in the 90th minute for a red-card offence to follow an earlier yellow.

In-form leaders Farsley Celtic Juniors won 4-1 at Stanley United to make it four victories in four.

Craig Farrand (2, including a penalty), Joe Firth and Danny Lyons netted for Celtic, who welcomed back defenders Tom Ormondroyd and Chad Morris after long-term injuries.

Athletico had a player sent off within ten minutes but only lost 3-2 at second-placed Drighlington.

Tom Farrar, with a 25-yard free-kick, and Shane Sowden (2) netted for Farsley, with top scorer Mohammed Qasim and Muhammad Ikraaz replying.

Leeds Medics and visitors Horsforth St Margaret’s experienced a goalless draw and a frustrating afternoon for a Leeds Medics side that did everything but score against a well organised & disciplined Horsforth St. Margaret’s, with Daniel Todd, Ben Hopkinson and Will Harris particularly impressive.

Referee Glen Taylor enjoyed his afternoon officiating in a game played in a sporting manner on the excellent Weetwood pitch.

Midfielder Sammy Bzeu was in good form for Medics, creating a sackful of chances that they were unable to convert.

Horsforth and their manager Ryan Leadbeater will be proud of the resilience shown by their club, with Medics ruing missed chances.

Medics p>supremo Dr Stephen Ledger said: ”Credit to Horsforth for having a clear game-plan to minimise time and space available for the opposition to penetrate their ranks in the defensive third of the pitch.

They were largely successful in doing that, and when there were chances the Horsforth keeper was in the right place at the right time.”

Medics are sixth and Horsforth next to bottom.

In the Championship Division, much-changed St Bede's lost 6-2 at leaders Gildersome Spurs Old Boys, taking the lead via Ty Akram before having a player dismissed in the 11th minute.

The visitors led until a minute into the second half, and then had rough justice with the second and third Spurs goals (handball and offside) before Jarad Peltier bagged a late consolation.

Mike Hall (2), Josh Suggitt, from 30 yards, Ben Keedy, Conor Firth and Matt Jackson netted for Gildersome.

In the preliminary round of the Marflitt Trophy, Idle lost 1-0 at Golcar United, despite having the amount of possession usually reserved for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Amazingly, Idle only had one shot, and lost to a Danny Moorhouse goal with 15 minutes left.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves led 1-0 via Cameron Whalley and should have extended their margin but ended up losing 4-2 at Beeston Juniors Old Boys.

Celtic also scored via Danny Kemp when they were trailing 3-1 but they were denied an equaliser by the in-form Beeston keeper, and then the hosts bagged a late fourth to kill them off.

In Division Two, Tyersal, who have now won three out of three, cashed in on under-strength Shire Academics Reserves, beating them 6-1.

Marksmen were man-of-the-match Chris Gibbon (2), Ryan Pogson, Josh Hyde, Shane Pogson and Jake Stott.

Littletown lost 5-4 against Fairbank United and are bottom of the table but may not be there for much longer following a recruitment drive.

United were 1-0 down to a 30-yard Carlos Alfonso Cabral thunderbolt after 45 seconds, and he then smacked in a second off the underside of the bar from 25 yards.

Cabral completed his hat-trick on the half-hour from a disputed penalty, but Fairbank, who then changed tactics, hit back with a spot-kick of their own before half-time from captain Bilal Saleem.

Shoaib Hussain made it 3-2 by tapping in Faris Hussain's cross from three yards, following a 50-yard pass by Junaid Ali, and a 25-yard rocket by Hussain Iqbal made it 3-3.

Nahum Tesfagergish put Littletown ahead via another penalty but Iqbal's wonderful run and finish made it 4-4 before Shoaib Hussain's calm finish in a goalmouth scramble ten minutes from time won it for Fairbank.

Horsforth St Margaret’s Reserves won 3-2 at Garforth Rangers 3-2 in a classic game of two halves.

Rangers led 2-0 at the break but Horsforth roared back in the second period with goals from Joe Clapham (2) and a 35-yard cross-cum=shot from Ben Cutler from the left, which was the decider.

Garforth Rangers are sixth with four points from three matches, while Horsforth are third, level on points with leaders Colton Athletic and Tyersal.
