HEMSWORTH Miners' Welfare and Yorkshire Amateur remain first and second respectively in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division after wins over Liversedge and Eccleshill United.

Former Bradford (Park Avenue) skipper Wayne Benn’s Hemsworth withstood a second- half comeback from Sedge to run out 4-3 victors over Jonathan Rimmington’s side.

Goals from Brad Dockerty and Richard Collier inside the opening quarter-hour put the Wells in the driving seat.

Dockerty added his second just minutes before Seon Ripley netted the home side’s fourth.

Joe Walton pegged a goal back just before the break and he bagged his brace nine minutes into the second half.

Mitch Hamilton made it 4-3 before the hour but the Wells held on to win the seven-goal thriller.

Eccleshill slumped to a 4-1 reverse at Yorkshire Amateur, and it was one of their former players who began the rout.

Matt Dempsey gave the Ammers a 26th-minute lead, and they took that into the break.

A penalty three minutes into the second half, scored by Ash Flynn, doubled the home side’s lead, and former Thackley midfielder Brice Tiani made it 3-0 on the hour.

The Eagles cut the deficit through Luke Harrop but former Liversedge man Harrison Blakey restored the home side’s three-goal cushion minutes from time.

Thackley and Hall Road Rangers remain 14th and 16th respectively after a goalless draw at Dennyfield.

Campion are back into the top five in Division One after a last-gasp 3-2 win at struggling East Yorkshire Carnegie.

The black and reds’ hero was Jason Davis as he plundered a second-half hat-trick.

Josh Walker had given the home side a second-minute lead, and they held that until Davis netted his first, eight minutes into the second half.

Davis put Campion ahead with 20 minutes remaining but a Phil Winn goal eight minutes from time saw the sides on level terms again.

Davis claimed his treble just over a minute before time to lift Campion two places, while Carnegie dropped two places to 18th.
