LEIGH Beattie can see a bright future ahead for the Bulls’ latest crop of young talent.

The club this week handed professional contracts to a trio of promising youngsters – full back Alix Stephenson, centre Elliot Culling and hooker Thomas Doyle.

They have all enjoyed stand-out seasons in the academy and caught the eye of John Kear, who has rewarded them with an invitation to join the first-team squad.

They are the latest on the Odsal production line to make the step-up, following in the footsteps of Ollie Wilkes, Matty Storton, Rowan Milnes and Evan Hodgson who all signed three-year contracts in 2017.

Beattie is delighted with the progress that the three teenagers have made over the last two years.

He said: “These three boys really deserve this opportunity. They have put in a lot of work this year and have really made a name for themselves in my team.

“Alix and Elliot have really developed into smart players, on and off the field, since joining the club at the start of last season.

“Tom has made the transition to hooker, catching the eye of head coach John Kear.

“The quality in the side has really come to the fore this year and seen the team establish themselves as one of the leading sides in the academy competition.

“It’s fantastic not only for myself to see the boys I work so closely with hopefully get their shot in the first team, but also the fans as well.

“At Bradford we pride ourselves on creating some really strong players and it’s great for the fans to see how well we have flourished this season.”
