BRADFORD Bulls know that a final-day home win will at least leave them with a chance of winning the Betfred League One title, and they should face little opposition against lowly Hemel Stags.

The Stags, who lost 56-6 against leaders York City Knights last weekend, have only won twice all season, with both of those successes coming against the hapless West Wales Raiders.

They failed to leave a mark on Bulls during the reverse fixture in Hertfordshire. On a boiling hot May afternoon, John Kear's side romped to a comfortable 68-0 victory.

Elliot Minchella and Dalton Grant both bagged a brace of tries, as 10 different Bulls players managed to get themselves on the scoresheet.

Sonny Esslemont was in the team on that occasion, and he is someone with an impressive pedigree, having appeared in the 2014 Super League season with Hull Kingston Rovers.

The back rower is also a Scottish international and has plied his trade in West Yorkshire before, playing for Keighley Cougars in 2016.

Lewis Taylor is a young prop with plenty of potential. He is a Loughborough University undergraduate and he provided one of the moments of Hemel's season last month.

He scored a stunning solo try in their home defeat against Oldham Roughyeds, running the length of the pitch and evading several tackles to touch down in the left corner.

The 21-year-old has also represented England Universities this year, against New Zealand Students, alongside Cougars favourite Harry Aaronson.

Greece is the word for Taylor's fellow prop Stefanos Bastas. He is captain of the national side and is the first ever Greek rugby league player to secure a professional contract.

Finally, Jono Burns is Hemel's top try scorer this season and he made his name coming through the youth ranks at Sheffield Eagles alongside his brothers Greg and Paddy, who both still play for the Betfred Championship side.

Despite some obvious talents and interesting tales, it seems highly unlikely that the Hertfordshire outfit will cause an upset at Odsal tomorrow.

And if York lose to play-off chasers Whitehaven, Bulls could still snatch the title at the last.
