Bull's Steve Crossley faces this week's Big Interview ahead of the clash with Hemel Stags...

Q. Was there any surprise among the team at how strong Oldham were last time out?

A. No surprise at all. We did a lot of video analysis on them leading into the game. We knew they were a strong set of players, especially in the middle which is why John went with the bench he did, entirely made up of forwards and that proved to be right. It was a tough encounter, Oldham never relented.

Q. Hemel marks the end of the regular season and this campaign seems to have flown by – how does it feel for you?

A. It has yes, but it’s good. We're at the back end of the season now but things are still really exciting. There are probably the play-offs coming up and the new league structure to come into play, so there's lots to play for. The way things are looking we will need to go through the play-offs, so the regular season is ending but then we have more tough games to come. It’s exciting times ahead.

Q. How do the team view this match with Hemel – is it a good game to finish the regular season on?

A. No disrespect to them but this is a game we should be winning quite comfortably. It will serve as a good opportunity to give game time to the players who we need to keep fresh going into the play-offs. Any players who do come in will be able to show what they can do and earn a spot in the squad for the play-offs, so it’s good to finish on this game, especially at home.

Q. Bulls can still go up as League One winners. With all that on the line, can we expect a rocking atmosphere at Odsal?

A. We can’t control what goes on between York and Whitehaven, we can only control our own performance and the way we finish our season is determined by us. If Whitehaven do us a favour then fantastic, but if not, John Kear has us fully prepared for the play-offs. It will be a good turnout regardless of the opposition and what’s at stake. The Bulls fans have travelled and followed us everywhere, as well as coming in huge numbers to Odsal. The fans have broken countless League One records for away attendances so that just shows the support we have.

Q. If it is to be the play-offs, how do the Bulls adapt to it becoming effectively a knock-out competition?

A. The play-offs will be much harder, which John has stressed to us. Teams like Oldham are used to those knockout style games and when it comes to knockout football it is just like a cup match – one loss and you’re out. So anybody from second to fifth can win these play-offs, but we need to make sure we’re there come the end of them to get the job done.
