FARSLEY Celtic hauled themselves back up three places in the Evo-Stik League premier division with a home win following two defeats and draw which had seen them tumble down the table.

There were few chances created by either side at Throstle Nest as the Celts beat Mickleover Sports 1-0 in a game littered by injuries. Ultimately it was settled by an own goal as Sports’ centre-back Ben Turner turned Will Hayhurst’s 33rd-minute cross past his own keeper, Lewis King.

However, it was an injury to one of Farsley’s Turner brothers that will have a longer-lasting affect. The three-point maximum came at a price as Nathan Turner went down just minutes after the goal and play was held up for several minutes before he was stretchered off the pitch, replaced by Ryan Watson.

The visitors had lost a man to injury in the sixth minute but Kevin Grocott did, at least, leave the pitch under his own steam. The Sports’ right back was injured in the third minute but attempted to continue.

Farsley had a couple of decent attempts in the second half but Mickleover keeper King was equal to them while Celt’s stopper Kyle Trenerry had just one real save to make.

Celts boss Adam Lakeland was happy to get back to winning ways in the league after the previous weekend’s 4-0 victory away at Guisborough Town in the FA Cup.

He said: "I’m pleased with the win and I think it was important that we got the three points and the clean sheet, which was the second in a row.

“We will have to see how Nathan’s injury settles down and then get him in for a scan but at this moment it doesn’t look good. It’s the outside of his knee which is a worry but hopefully it’s nothing lengthy because he’s been great for us this season.”

Brighouse Town slipped to a home defeat in the lower tier, they were beaten 1-0 by Pontefract Collieries in the east division.

Second-placed Town were six places higher than Ponte before kick off but were overhauled by their near neighbours. Vill Powell’s men are seventh after Connor Smythe converted substitute Aleks Starcenko’s 72nd-minute cross for Ponte’s winner.
