UNDERCLIFFE pipped Wrenthorpe to the Championship One title on a thrilling final day to the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League season.

Wrenthorpe struck the first blow in the see-saw battle for top spot when they bowled out Baildon for 157 before easing to a seven-wicket win.

That left Undercliffe knowing they needed 19 points from their match with Bankfoot to become champions. They went one better and pocketed a maximum 20 as they defeated Bankfoot by 21 runs.

All-rounder Zeeshan Qasim and batsman Fahid Rehman proved to be the key performers for Undercliffe.

Rehman made an unbeaten 99 which was the cornerstone of Undercliffe’s 235-5. While Qasim followed up an unbeaten 62 by taking 4-64 as Bankfoot were all out for 214.

Skipper Scott Etherington chipped in with 3-41 while Adam Wainwright (38) was top scorer for Bankfoot whose skipper James Lee took his tally of wickets for the season to 62 with 4-47.

Undercliffe finished the season with 369 points which was two more than Wrenthorpe who did all they could on the final day.

The division’s top two wicket takers, Jonathan Rudge (4-47) and Awais Ejaz (3-56) took their respective tallies to 76 and 65.

Simon Bailey battled hard for his 63 while George Barker made 36, but Baildon’s total of 157 was overhauled as Luke Patel (77no) and James Glynn (36) powered their side towards their target.

Hunslet Nelson will be returning to Championship Two after just one season after their 39-run defeat at third-placed Morley.

The result left them on 193 points, four behind Ossett who suffered a three-run defeat at Batley.

Nobody tried harder than skipper Will Stiff to keep Nelson afloat. He took 4-56 as Morley were bowled out for 201 and followed up with an unbeaten 37 as his side were dismissed for 162.

His opposite number Oliver Halliday had a fine match. He top scored with 67 and picked up 3-9 in the Nelson innings to back up the efforts of Matthew Dowse (4-49).

Ossett bowler Joe Finnigan produced the day’s best figures of 7-43 and still ended up on the losing side. Only Muhammad Tahir (42) and Mohammad Shahnawaz (37) made an impact for Batley as they were all out for 131.

Ossett were unable to cash in on the performance of Finnigan as they were dismissed for 128. James Van der Merwe (39) and Jon Sadler (31) were the main contributors as Musa Ahmed picked up 3-13.

Hartshead Moor ended their season on a winning note after defeating Gomersal by six wickets.

Former Yorkshire and Scotland seamer Iain Wardlaw picked up 5-47 as Gomersal were restricted to 164-9.

Joe Bowman top scored with 58 while opener Craig Field (44) and Mohammad Khan (38no) helped Hartshead Moor to their target.

Bottom team Yeadon signed off with a win as they defeated Pudsey Congs by five wickets. An unbeaten 64 from Ryan Heptinstall saw Yeadon pass the Congs total.

Jonathan Donnelly (3-39) was the best of the Congs bowlers while James Massheder had earlier taken 3-28 for Yeadon. Mushy Raffique top-scored for Congs with 61.
