Luke Hopkins speaks to Bradford Bulls' Steve Crossley.

Steve, the 104-0 away win at West Wales Raiders was a new away club record for Bradford Bulls, so the team must have been delighted?

Yes, it was a really good game to get back into and I was impressed with how we played.

We were very professional, stuck to our structures, didn’t get bored of the game and what we were doing and we did what works for us.

Doing that is something we have struggled with this season at times, but we actually stuck to our game plan at West Wales and it was a thoroughly professional performance.

You managed to cross for a try yourself so that must have been a good moment?

It was yes. I think I scored within like 30 seconds of coming off the bench, so I was delighted to pick up the ball and get over the line.

John Kear was very complimentary of the team after that result, so that must be a real boost?

There have been times this year where we beat teams by 40 or 50 points and we’ve come off the field disappointed because we haven’t completed our sets, or the discipline wasn’t there.

But against West Wales as I say we did a very professional job, and the discipline in defence was something that really impressed John and the team as well.

With the situation Bradford are in regarding the promotion hunt, that discipline is surely now more important than ever?

Yes absolutely. That sort of performance against West Wales will stand us in good stead if we go into the play-offs and that kind of performance is what we need to do every time now in the closing stages of the promotion race.

With all due respect to Hemel Stags, we are expecting Oldham to be our last major test so how important is a win over Oldham?

It’s massively important. If we go into the play-offs there will be some very tough fixtures in there but, in the remaining league fixtures Oldham will be hard to beat.

We’re at their ground so we need another big away performance to leave there with another win.

Oldham has always been a tough place to go, so will the Bulls have to be prepared to grind a win out here?

Well it won’t be easy. Of course, they will provide a much tougher challenge than West Wales did, but it’s about us proving we can up our performance against a better side, so our standards have to stay high.

It’s a very nice surface to play on at the Vestacare Stadium, so will that prove an advantage to us?

There are not many decent away pitches when you play in League One, but Oldham’s is a good fast pitch.

We have outside-backs who can do a lot of damage on a surface like that, so it will be a good opportunity to get some combinations going.
