THE fixture computer has got a strange sense of humour.

With the current disconnect between many fans and the owners at Valley Parade, City have found themselves up against arguably the two most divided clubs in the country on successive Saturdays.

After last week’s trip to Blackpool, where a large proportion of supporters still refuse to attend home games until Karl Oyston sells up, it’s Charlton Athletic next.

The Valley faithful continue to voice their opposition against controversial Belgian Roland Duchatelet – with eye-catching publicity stunts to disrupt matches such as throwing plastic pigs and crisp packets on the pitch.

Fans from both Charlton and Blackpool are due to take their protests against “rogue owners” to the EFL today with co-ordinated displays outside the league’s offices in London and Preston.

Meanwhile, against such a volatile backdrop, Lee Bowyer is looking to steer the Addicks back to the Championship after being given the manager’s job on a full-time basis.

Duchatelet is looking to bring down losses that are reported to be around £10 million a season and the wage budget has been cut.

But Bowyer insists he has no issues with the owner.

“He has backed me,” he said in a recent interview. “I can’t say anything negative on that.

“The budget is smaller than everybody else’s in the past but he has said it is a League One budget now. We’ve had to accept that.”

City fans will still look on enviously at the arrival of Josh Cullen on his latest loan stop from West Ham.

Cullen became the third of the 2017 play-off finalists to join Charlton – and is likely to see the most game time.

Mark Marshall has been chiefly on the bench and Billy Clarke has been out of action for nine months since rupturing his cruciate ligament.

But there is finally some better news for the Irishman, who could be back in training in three weeks after completing the latest phase of his rehab with ball-work drills.

Bowyer will be without midfielder Darren Pratley this weekend after he suffered a hamstring strain lunging into a tackle during their win over Wycombe.
