ILKLEY Town suffered a shock defeat to Wyke Wanderers, as their previously winless opponents recorded a fine 4-2 away victory in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division.

Toby Harris scored for Town but was also sent off on a mixed day for him, while Darren Munday bagged the hosts' other goal. Ryan Clay's double proved vital to Wyke's success as they came back from 2-1 down.

Ilkley manager Simon Armstrong said: "We didn't play well. Wyke came, pressed high, and did a good job but we weren't good enough on the ball, which is a real disappointment.

"Playing at home on the 3G pitch, coming into the game on the back of five straight wins, it was unacceptable. We did not produce."

Salts had won two successive games but they were thumped 5-2 at title challengers Whitkirk Wanderers. Matthew Bilney and Thomas Hickey scored for the visitors but they were well beaten.

Rawdon Old Boys have started the season relatively well but they suffered a woeful 6-1 home defeat to mid-table rivals Robin Hood Athletic. They were 4-0 behind at the break and Craig Nicholls' goal was little consolation.

Field entertained Knaresborough Town and picked up a good 4-2 win. Nick Doherty scored twice, with Josh Milner and Jake Taylor also netting for the hosts.

Newly-promoted Otley Town were unlucky to lose 2-1 at home to high-flying Newsome in Division One. Dominic Easter grabbed them a goal in the 78th minute but they could not find a late equaliser.

Pool won twice last week but their good run ended with a 2-0 defeat at free-scoring Kirk Deighton Rangers.

In Division Two, Campion were overtaken at the top after suffering a 3-2 defeat away to Altofts. Dan Cunningham and Nathan Edden scored for the previously unbeaten visitors, but it was not enough.

Finally, Baildon Trinity Athletic secured their first home win of the season with an extraordinary success over a hapless Garforth Rangers side.

Steve Sample hit five for the hosts, Ben Craven scored four and substitute James Pinto added another. Rangers have lost all five of their games so far, conceding a mind-boggling 57 goals.
