A BRACE either side of the interval by Nathan Turner saw Farsley Celtic seize the initiative, as they set off on the road to Wembley with a 4-0 away win.

The Celts were drawn away at Northern League outfit Guisborough Town in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup and it proved to be a very difficult tie, despite the flattering scoreline.

The Priorymen had knocked Farsley’s tenants Albion Sports out after a draw at Throstle Nest before winning the replay comfortably.

They were looking to use home advantage again but the Celts rode their luck at times and defended superbly.

The home side contributed to their own downfall as keeper Jordan Nixon raced to the edge of his area and collided with a defender after a lack of communication, allowing Turner to fire into the unguarded net.

After breaking the deadlock in the 42nd minute, Turner fired in at the far post just a minute into the second half, after a good cross from the left flank was not cleared by the hosts.

Guisborough continued to battle but the Celts hit another two inside the last seven minutes.

Luke Parkin beat two covering defenders after Nathan Cartman had drawn Nixon off his line and played the ball back, before Isaac Baldwin wrapped up the scoring in the last minute.

Brighouse Town are already out of the FA Cup so they were in league action and they moved up the Evo-Stik Division One East with a 3-1 home win over Loughborough Dynamo.

The visitors kept Town at bay for half an hour but Aaron Martin opened the scoring and Tom Haigh netted just before the break.

Tom Robinson hit the home side’s third early in the second half but Loughborough’s Ryan Robbins netted a consolation 12 minutes from time.
