GARY Ballance posted a 44-ball fifty during the second afternoon at Trent Bridge as Yorkshire respond positively to Nottinghamshire’s 448.
The White Rose have reached tea on day of their 11th Specsavers County Championship match of the season at 159-3 from 38 overs.
Ballance will begin the evening session on 72, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore on 12.
Yorkshire started the afternoon on 14-1 before losing Jeet Raval and Harry Brook, the latter for 47.
Raval was bowled by Harry Gurney, and Brook caught at midwicket having dragged the left-arm spin of Samit Patel.
That left Yorkshire at 137-3 in the 28th over of their first innings.
Ballance and Brook had shared 78 for the third wicket to advance from 59-2 upon New Zealander Raval’s departure for 15 on debut.
Ballance has batted fluently, driving particularly well through the covers and down the ground.
