NEW signing David Ball has pledged to bring goals to boost shot-shy City.

The Rotherham striker’s season-long loan move to Valley Parade was yesterday given the all clear by the EFL and FA after the paperwork had been submitted just before Friday’s deadline.

Ball played 38 times for the Millers in their promotion from League One and scored nine times. He has made three appearances so far this season.

The experience 28-year-old’s arrival will provide a much-needed boost up front as the Bantams pick up the pieces once again from another dispiriting defeat at Fleetwood.

They currently boast the fewest shots on target in League One with only 19 from the opening six games.

But Ball is confident he can hit the ground running at his new club and has not been put off by their sluggish start.

He said: “I will bring goals, I will bring assists and I will do all I can to help the club challenge.

“I have done it over the past few seasons in League One and I have been a part of teams who have played play-off football.

“In December, last season, Rotherham were close to the bottom of the table and we turned it around and earned promotion.

“I know the division very well and I hope to add to the great deal of quality we already have here.

“There were a number of clubs interested in me and as soon as I heard Bradford had made an approach, I wanted to make it happen.”

Michael Collins will be delighted to have another attacking option at his disposal ahead of Saturday’s crucial trip to Blackpool.

The City head coach said: “It’s never easy in a situation like this. But at the moment we have to work with what we’ve got as a group.

“There’s no hiding place now. People have to stand up and show exactly why they came to this club.

“With the window shut now, we don’t have the ability to go out and bring in huge amounts of reinforcements.

“If we want to do that, then we’ll probably have to scour the free agent market.

“It’s not going to be easy but my job now is to work with what I’ve got.

“That’s what I’ve done from day one and I will continue to do that.”

Long-term absentees Alex Jones and Jake Reeves are still not ready to return and Sean Scannell is already ruled out again for Saturday’s trip to Blackpool because of a groin injury.

Collins added: “We have to pick ourselves up very quickly.

“There’s another week to work hard and try to put things right. But there needs to be more ownership and responsibility when they step over that white line.”
