Bowling Old Lane are celebrating their second trophy triumph of the season after beating Pudsey St Lawrence to win the Priestley Shield at Hartshead Moor.
Just two weeks after their first team won the Jack Hampshire Cup, the second team followed suit with a 35-run win. They made up for their defeat in last year’s final against Woodlands with a fine display and nobody typified their determination to succeed than man of the match Mohanned Yasir
He scored 48 and took 5-20 as Old Lane rose to the occasion.
Yasir and top scorer Ahsan Alishan (66) showed good application as they helped their side to a total of 211.
St Lawrence didn’t help themselves as they conceded 42 extras.
Skipper Jordan Moore (3-37) and Josh Dracup (3-40) bowled well for St Lawrence.
The Saints were soon facing an uphill task as they slipped to 76-6, but Moore and Josh Wilson attempted a fightback.
Moore made a battling 57 and Wilson (29) as 89 runs were added for the eighth wicket, but Old Lane were in no mood to let the game slip from their grasp.
Lawrence were all out for 176 with Yasir and Hafiz Ullah (3-29) taking the bowling honours on an afternoon when Hartshead Moor provided a perfect stage for an entertaining match.
