SPIN bowlers could turn out to be the star turns in tomorrow's Priestley Cup final at Undercliffe.

The All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League's showpiece match pits the experienced Woodlands pair of Chris Brice and Kez Ahmed against Farsley's talented young duo of James Logan and Adam Ahmed.

Left-armer Brice was man of the match when his side defeated Pudsey St Lawrence in the 2016 final and is currently the Premier Division's leading wicket taker with 49.

But hot on his heels before today's games is fellow left-armer Logan. He has 47 wickets and has performed sufficiently well this summer to earn his first professional contract with Yorkshire.

While Brice is backed up by the wily Kez Ahmed who has 38 wickets and has plenty of big-match experience, Logan has the support of Adam Ahmed.

He has won the Bradford Premier League's Young Spinner of the Year award in each of the past two seasons but his appearances for Farsley have been limited in the current campaign now that he plays for the Durham Academy.

One man who knows all to well the potential of the young Farsley spinner is their team-mate and club director of cricket, Mark Harrison.

He provides back up off spin when required and is looking forward to his first Priestley Cup final.

He said: "It promises to be a fascinating battle between the spinners.

"We are aware of the threat posed by Bricey and Kez. They are very experienced and have plenty of final experience.

"James and Adam may be young, but they have proved they have the character and ability to perform in big matches.

"It has been a blow not having Adam available more often, but when he has played, he has made an impact.

"Like James he has lots of ability and I hope they can show just how good they are in the final."

The two spinners are among nine Farsley players playing in their first final.

Seamers Chris Henry and Matthew Lumb are the exceptions.

"We know the majority of the Woodlands side played in the 2016 final triumph, but we feel it is time we won a trophy" said Harrison.

"We have been there or there about for the last couple of seasons without winning anything.

"To win the cup would give everybody at the club a lift," he added.

One player Farsley will be glad to see take his place in the final is captain Ryan Cooper.

He took a nasty blow to the face during last Saturday's league game at Methley. He suffered a bad cut over an eye and swelling but is expected to play.
