LEEDS United are currently riding high at the summit of the Sky Bet Championship, with 10 points from their opening four games.

However, they struggled defensively at times in Tuesday night's 2-2 draw at Swansea City, and new manager Marcelo Bielsa showed that he is not afraid to make big calls when necessary.

He hauled off Kalvin Phillips after less than half an hour, who was struggling to contain the silky Swans midfielder Bersant Celina.

Bielsa praised Phillips for his reaction to the substitution, and speaking to the assorted media yesterday ahead of tomorrow's clash at Carrow Road against Norwich City, he said: “I appreciate his professionalism when I took this rare decision.

“There is an unwritten rule which solves problems between players and coaches because we are colleagues.

“I always analyse decisions and hope the players don’t show that I made a mistake. I have never pointed out the mistakes of a player in my entire career, because we are colleagues.

“Players make mistakes and I make mistakes too and we have to be tolerant when people make mistakes.”

Norwich will be buoyant when they welcome Leeds to East Anglia tomorrow, having earned their first Championship win of the season on Wednesday night.

They left it late though, beating Preston North End 2-0 at home with goals in the last 10 minutes from Teemu Pukki and Alexander Tettey.

Bielsa has warned his side not to expect an easy ride against the Canaries, and he also spoke of his concerns over the disjointed nature of the defence at the moment.

He said: "Norwich is a team that plays better than the points they have. They won their first game (on Wednesday) and their enthusiasm will be very high.

“I don’t think I have to make changes (to the team) this weekend, but I will next Tuesday. I can’t assure that the defensive problems won’t happen again, but when we are aware of a problem, we are in a better situation to resolve.

“The problems I saw during the last game, we didn’t have before, but I take into account that Jamie Shackleton played in the position of Luke Ayling, Ayling in the position of Liam Cooper and Mateusz Klich instead of Kalvin Phillips.

“The lack of co-ordination is therefore more probable to happen, but it is my job to find solutions.”
