FARSLEY Celtic thrashed Thackley 7-1 away from home yesterday, but unlike their hosts, their pre-season is far from over. They will play three more friendlies before their Evo-Stik Premier Division season starts on August 18.

A dreadful start last night meant they allowed their Toolstation Northern Counties East League opponents to take the lead in the first minute through Luke Robinson.

However, Isaac Baldwin brought the scores level before the Celts went ahead through an own goal before the break.

The second half saw the visitors show their class. Will Hayhurst got his name on the scoresheet twice before A. Trialist ran riot with a late hat-trick as Farsley racked up a magnificent seven.

The Celts visit Colne for another friendly next up, while Thackley will hope to bounce back quickly as they travel to newly-promoted Eccleshill United for their opening league game on Saturday,

Eccleshill will be in higher spirits for the game, as they hammered Beeston St Anthony's 4-0 in their final pre-season clash.

League rivals Liversedge suffered a disappointing defeat at West Yorkshire County Amateur League champions Golcar United, losing 3-1. They will hope to find home comforts when they host Athersley Recreation this weekend.

Meanwhile, Albion Sports entertain Knaresborough Town in the same division. Town will take confidence from their last game, a narrow 1-0 win.

Steeton were their opponents in that clash, and they face their first-ever game in the Hallmark Security League Division One North as they travel to Holker Old Boys on Saturday.

Silsden AFC, who were promoted to the division above as champions last season, start their campaign at home to Squires Gate while back in the NCEL, Division One side Campion travel to Dronfield Town,.

Finally, Evo-Stik East Division side Brighouse Town lost 2-1 at Penistone Church last night, but like Farsley, their first league game is not until August 18, at home to Gresley FC.
