DEFENDING champions Ciroc have booked their place in the Bradford & District Evening League's end-of-season finals day with victory over Raja's at the Karmand Centre.

They now need just one point from their remaining two games to be certain of retaining their Division One title, assuming that second-placed Greenfield win both their matches.

Ciroc continued their remarkable season a ten-wickets win as Kamran Khan (4-18) helped them restrict visitors Westwood Park to 106-9.

Openers Adal Islam (50no) and Ismail Dawood (48no) then went to work with the bat as Ciroc ended on 111-0 with 4.2 overs to spare.

Greenfield are now the only team that can catch Ciroc, thanks to victory in a high-scoring affair against Thornton at their Hill Top ground.

The visitors amassed 176-3 from just 16 overs, with big contributions from Waleed Akhtar (53no), Sajad Ali (49no) and Adeel Ahmed (49).

Undaunted by their task, Thornton came up just 18 runs short of their target, thanks mainly to Josh Hutchinson (50no) and Tom Williams (25) as they finished on 158-6.

The loss confirmed Thornton's relegation to Division Two.

Denholme's hopes of catching Greenfield for the second play-off spot were dealt a fatal blow as they came unstuck at home against fast-improving John Breare, who the previous week had defeated Greenfield.

The Westfield Lane visitors took full advantage of a lacklustre bowling and fielding performance from Denholme as they set the home side 154-3 from just 16 overs, thanks to Kiwi Tim Pryce (50no), Daniel Holah (42) and a late flourish from Alex West (27).

The loss of early wickets meant that Denholme were never really in the chase, despite Andy Wear's 50 not out as they ended on 122-7, with Jon Robinson taking 3-32.

Crossflatts leapfrogged Denholme into third, and still have an outside chance of playing on finals day after a six-wicket victory at Ryshworth Park against basement side Shelf.

The latter made a competitive 139-6 (Younis Bismillah 44no, Abdul Qadeer 32, Mohammed Bilal 3-13) but a fine all-round performance from Bilal (50no) saw Flatts home on 143-4.

The defeat sealed Shelf's relegation to Division Two.

In Division Two, victories for Bradford League outfits Undercliffe and Buttershaw St Paul's secured their places on Finals Day, as well as promotion.

Undercliffe remain on top with 21 points, two points ahead of St Paul's, and with only two games left, the championship is theirs to lose.

The Intake Road club showed their pedigree with an eight-wicket home victory over third-placed Great Horton Park Chapel.

The latter's 114-8 from 18 overs (Darren Wilson 37, Blair Oakley 35) never look like being enough against the home side's powerful batting line up, and this proved to be the case as opener Fahid Rehman (53no), Scott Price (27) and overseas Khalid Usman (21no) helped them reach their target on 115-2 with 4.1 overs to spare.

Buttershaw St Paul's kept up their title hopes with an even more emphatic victory at St Paul's Avenue against bottom side Muff Field, who are still seeking their first Evening League success.

The hosts bowled out the Sunnybank side for 113, with the only real resistance coming from Alex Pearson (38) as Woodlands' Elliot Richardson took 3-12.

Openers Simon McDermott (50no) and Jordan Laban (42no) then made short work of securing victory as they finished on 115-0 with four overs to spare.

Halifax League outfit Bradshaw hung on to fourth spot, despite a home defeat at the hands of Keighley-based Azeems.

Fine knocks form Shokat Ali (50no), Mohammed Mansha (38) and Zulfiqar Ali (28) contributed to an impressive 169-4 from just 16 overs by the visitors, which proved too much for Bradshaw, who were still able to muster a respectable 136-5 thanks to Josh McDougall (52no) and Matthew Crowther (33) as Abid Hussain was Azeem's most successful bowler with 3-35.

Ingrow recorded their fourth success in their debut season as they scored 133-6 (Duncan Tetley 34no, Joe Hoyle 32, Louis Hopkinson 28) at Windhill against Cross Roads & Daisy Hill.

However, the home side came up just seven runs short of victory as they finished on 126-6, with Danny Halstead making 35 and Adam Qurban 28.
