THE Kia Super League clash between Surrey Stars and Yorkshire Diamonds at Guildford yesterday was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Umpires Tom Lungley and Mark Newell inspected the wicket twice before concluding at 3pm that there was no prospect of even a reduced-overs game.
Diamonds now move on to Loughborough for a showdown with the Lightning tomorrow (4pm), where they will be looking for their first win of the competition.
Yorkshire Diamonds captain Lauren Winfield said: "The weather was pretty terrible and it just didn't look like easing up any time soon.
"I guess we shouldn’t complain because we've had a pretty good summer. It’s just a shame that all this rain has fallen on a cricket day."
"After the last game against Lancashire we were pretty eager to get out and to give ourselves an opportunity to get some points on the board."
Winfield added: "We’ve just got to look forward to tomorrow now at Loughborough. We want to give a better account of ourselves and get our first win on the board.
"They’re a good team to be playing at this stage in the competition. Loughborough are a team we know we can beat because we have done so in the past and that will give us a bit of confidence.
"Hopefully, we can get that first W on the board."
