LONG-SERVING Yorkshire Under-19 head coach and Under-20 assistant coach High Gumbs has returned to Bradford & Bingley.

Gumbs, who played at the Wagon Lane club from 1998-2000, helping them be promoted to National League Three North, will be assistant coach to head coach Anthony Posa.

In union, Gumbs has also had two spells with Old Otliensians (1985-89, 2000-03), latterly as player-coach, a role that he also undertook at Baildon (2003-07).

The centre has also played rugby league – for West Bowling (1989), Widnes (1989-90), Bradford Northern (1990-94), where he was part of their winning teams in the Regal Trophy and Alliance Challenge Cup, Manly-Warringah in Australia (1994) and Oldham (1994-98).

Gumbs has also represented Yorkshire Under-17s and Colts at union, and Yorkshire, England Students and Great Britain Students at league.

As a coach in union, he has also had roles at Harrogate (1997-98), Yorkshire Development (2000-01), Leeds Tykes under-12s and 13s (2007-08), Bradford University Women (2007-08), University of Leeds (2009-10), England Students North (2009-11) and Pontefract RUFC (2014-18).

In his time as a coach, Old Otliensians won the Aire-Wharfe Cup (2003, 2009) , Baildon won Yorkshire Division Three (2005) and reached the semi-finals of the EDF Energy Junior Vase (2007), but his principal work has been with Yorkshire Under-20s, who won their County Championship seven times.

Gumbs has already passed his Level One and Two union coaching qualifications and is currently working on his Level Three.
