THERE is just no keeping Birstall all-rounder Josh Haynes out of the limelight as he produced a match-winning performance for his third-placed side against Bowling Old Lane in The All-Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Championship Two.

Haynes, who took six wickets against Buttershaw St Paul’s on May 26 before hitting 106 against Liversedge and 168 in last week’s win over Altofts, produced another top bowling display.

The left-armer took a stunning 8-23 as Birstall bowled out Old Lane for 72 to secure a 55-run win.

Birstall will have been pleased to defend what looked a modest total of 127, which would have been far less healthy if Ian Carradice hadn’t weighed in with an unbeaten 35.

Old Lane’s Arsalan Ijaz took 6-22 and top scored with 37, but couldn’t save his side from another defeat.

Northowram Fields captain John Lister made the day’s highest individual score of 147. He struck three sixes and 23 fours in a sparkling innings.

He also shared in a superb fourth-wicket stand of 220 with Kyle Welsh (91) as Fields piled up a score of 311-6.

Hopes that Lister and Welsh’s efforts would be rewarded with a win were dashed by the rain. The match was halted with Hopton Mills on 180-8. As they had not received the same number of overs as Northowram Fields each team got three points for an incomplete match plus the bonuses they earned.

Leaders Keighley seem unstoppable. Their latest success was a 55-run win over East Ardsley. Good contributions from Richard Gould (50), Max Davison (45no) and Luke Chapman (33) saw them post a score of 205-8.

Louie Hurley (5-57) bowled well for East Ardsley, but his side’s batsmen couldn’t match his efforts as they stumbled to 150-9. Abe Kenny (3-15) and Paul Quinlan (3-38) were the pick of the bowlers.

Second-placed Wakefield St Michael’s defeated Altofts by three wickets while Buttershaw St Paul’s had Paul Carroll to thank for their two-wicket win over Liversedge.

The former Wrenthorpe, East Bierley and Pudsey Congs run-getter came in at number seven and hit a 59-ball 100 not out to see his side home. Carroll smashed three sixes and 10 fours after coming to the wicket with his side struggling at 101-5. Wasim Khaliiq (3-75) and Graham Winn (3-85) were the best Liversedge bowlers.

Earlier, Samar Farroq made 78 and Adam Ives an unbeaten 38 as Liversedge posted a total of 231-8. Skipper James Sawyer (4-56) and Amer Ayoub (4-51) shared the bowling honours.

Brighouse recovered from 11-2 to make 316-7 as they defeated lowly Spen Victoria by 150 runs. Sabar Sarwant (79), Sohail Hussain (48), Asad Mahmood (42) and Mohammed Waseem (48no) piled on the agony for the Spen bowlers.

Ollie Davison made a determined 56 for Spen Victoria but lacked support as his team were dismissed for 166. That man Sarwant followed up his half-century with 5-26, while Deron Greaves took 3-19.
