HAVING won promotion via the play-offs in Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Two last season, Bradford Dudley Hill fear that they might be back there if they don’t buck their ideas up.

They could only manage a Simon Sewell try and goal in a 46-6 Land-slide defeat at Lock Lane last Friday.

Home tries came from Connor Land (4), Lewis Price (2), Oliver Bloomer and Jordan Bull, with Land adding seven goals for 30-point personal haul.

“We got beaten up by a bigger, more experienced pack,” admitted Hill’s first-team manager Steve Wright.

“We were missing a couple of players in Andy Walker and Sean Dickinson, but once I knew that former Castleford, Batley and Cougars player Sean Hesketh was playing for them, I knew that it would be difficult.

“Adam Sutcliffe stood in for the suspended Neil Wall on the wing and did okay but once Lock Lane got that go-forward, it was tough to halt.”

West Bowling returned from their bonding session in Benidorm to a 54-16 defeat at Dewsbury Moor Maroons in Division Two.

The hosts have won seven out of nine and are second in the table behind Stanningley, while although Bowling have won three matches out of eight, they have conceded more points (324) than anyone in the section.

In the Yorkshire Men’s League, sixth-placed Odsal Sedbergh went down 32-14 at King Cross Park, who scored six tries and have joined leaders West Hull on 10 points.

Meanwhile, the early signs are more promising for Brighouse Rangers in Division Three.

The leaders made it three wins out of three with a 34-16 home triumph over York Lokomotive, who were thus handed their first defeat.

Tries for the hosts came from Karl Frankland, Jordan Sild, Nicholas Barraclough, Benjamin Wrightson, Gavin Midgley and Ben Waud, with Frankland also landing five goals.

Wyke Academy hadn’t got off the mark in Division Five prior to facing visitors Heworth A but leapfrogged them in the table courtesy of a crushing 60-16 victory.

Tries for the Academy came from Bradley Peel (3), Ryan Kershaw (2), Daniel Worby, Louis Singh, Coby Kittsen, Bradley Ellis, Tevin Campbell and Callum Lumb, with Ben Proctor tagging on eight goals.
