IT proved to be a bruising encounter for Morley AFC in the Yorkshire Amateur Premier Division, after they were crushed 7-2 at home to Alwoodley on Saturday.
They fell 4-0 behind early on and despite hitting back through goals from Matthew Palmer and Ryan Hartley, they were never really in the contest. Callum Armstrong grabbed an impressive hat-trick for the away side.
Their reserve side fared little better in their Division Two clash at home to Huddersfield Amateur, slipping to a disappointing 5-3 defeat.
Morley equalised Huddersfield's opener early on but that was as good as it got for the home side, as they found themselves 5-1 behind at half time. Aaron Van Leeuwen bagging three times for the away team.
They restored some credibility by scoring twice in the second half, but never seriously threatened Huddersfield's unassailable lead.
There was better news for Morley AFC III, as they won 5-3 away at Norristhorpe. In a thrilling encounter, Morley took the lead on three separate occasions but they were pegged back each time.
Eventually the away side pulled away though to secure a fine victory. Matthew Ibbotson was the star man for Morley, netting a deserved hat-trick.
