GUISELEY face one of the biggest games in their history on Tuesday, a relegation six-pointer against Barrow that could decide their fate in the Vanarama National League.

Despite his team being rooted to the bottom of the division, manager Sean St Ledger is determined to pull off the great escape, saying:

"I want to win football games and I want this football club to stay up in the Conference.

Time is not on Guiseley's side though, and St Ledger knows that opportunities are running out for the Lions. He admitted:

"I think at this stage of the season, it's clear that we need to start winning."

They suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to second-placed Sutton last weekend, but the caretaker manager believes that his side were slightly unlucky in that fixture, and he has challenged his players to bounce back from the result.

St Ledger lamented: "I think that the scoreline on Saturday flattered Sutton a little bit, I don't think that it was a 4-0.

"We obviously made some pretty bad errors, but we have to move on from that now and look ahead to the game coming up."

The former Preston North End and Leicester City defender has been pressed into action himself recently, and says that he is happy to help out the club in any capacity.

He said: "I'm just doing what the chairman and the owner ask of me and trying to give my best to try and create some confidence in the squad and hopefully get some results.

"The situation we're in, it's all about getting wins and I'll do my best whether I'm the manager or a player."

A pulled hamstring that St Ledger picked up against Sutton last week may force him out of contention on Tuesday, although his absence has not yet been confirmed.

If he doesn't manage to take to the pitch against Barrow, he will be hoping that he can influence the game just as much from the sidelines.
