BRADFORD Park Avenue have an ideal chance to bag another three points as they face basement outfit North Ferriby United.

Mark Bower's men climbed back into the National League North top ten with a home victory over high-flying Blyth Spartans last weekend.

Yet although they are now just two points adrift of the play-off places, and will be favourites tomorrow, the Avenue boss is taking nothing for granted.

"We'd love to make it back-to-back wins, because that's what builds momentum and moves you up the table, but we know there are no easy fixtures in this league," said Bower.

"Ferriby got a result last week with a 2-2 draw at Southport, so they are definitely capable of picking up points. It's a difficult job going to Southport but they've gone there and come back with a point from a tough away game.

"We went to Stalybridge Celtic (who were bottom) last season when we only needed a couple of points to ensure we stayed in this league and we lost.

"They did the double over us – they beat us twice because we weren't up to our standards on those two days."

North Ferriby are currently seven points adrift of second-bottom FC United and eight below the safety mark.

It is a tough run for Steve Housham's men as he and assistant Darryn Stamp, a former Guiseley striker, prepare for today's visit of Avenue ahead of games against Salford City and Kidderminster Harriers.

Avenue could climb as high as sixth with a win and other results going their way and are looking to build on last weekend's 4-1 victory over Blyth, who were third at the time.

Bower was hampered in his selection process then due to injuries but hopes to have a larger pool of players to pick from for this weekend's fixture.

"One or two players got some minutes in the midweek County Cup game but we still need to have a look at Jav (Vidal), although we'll have Danny Boshell back from suspension," he said.

"Adam (Nowakowski) was still struggling with a neck injury last weekend but he played the full game in the cup tie, so he's ready.

"Danny had only a one-match ban after picking up five yellow cards this season and Jav had an x-ray (hip injury) but there's no break, so that's great news."
