WYKE Wanderers are out of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup following a 1-0 defeat at home to Horsforth St Margaret's A.

Wanderers almost took the lead in the fifth minute, Joe Entwhistle going close, but Horsforth – who were strong in midfield – scored the all-important goal five minutes before half-time.

The hosts rallied and had chances through Entwhistle, Karl Fawcett and Harrison Levy but could not find their way through a resolute defence.

The tie between Springfield and Field was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Baildon Trinity Athletic won 6-2 at Old Modernians Reserves in the West Riding County FA Trophy.

The game began sloppily, with both teams struggling to put passes together, but the deadlock was broken when Graham Carney's header for Baildon came back off the bar and Steve Sample was the first to react with a well-placed header.

Soon after, Baildon went further in front with a tap-in from Sample – and he completed his hat-trick just after half-time following great work by Lee Mathers.

Trinity went further ahead with a brace from Mathers, first calmly rounding the goalkeeper and then scoring with a strong header at the far post.

Baildon relaxed and allowed Mods to reduce the arrears with two quick goals but Ben Craven had the last word with a fine individual strike.

Wyke Wanderers Reserves edged through 4-1 on a penalty shoot-out after drawing 3-3 against Rothwell Reserves.

The young Wanderers played well in the first half and went ahead courtesy of Liam Hartley. Waqas Iqbal and a Oliver Priestley-Standing penalty then put them firmly in the driving seat – but Rothwell's experience and more physical approach began to show as they scored three times to level.

Sam Ash, James Butterworth, Hoi-Pin Truong and Sam Digby netted the penalties for Wyke

Field Reserves bowed out 4-2 in another shoot-out against Otley Town's first team after a 2-2 draw at the end of 90 minutes.

A free header gave Otley the lead but Field equalised through a Liam Charles penalty.

Field were dominant in the second half but could not convert their many one-on-ones and, with five minutes to go, Otley took the lead. But in the last minute, George Cull equalised for Field.

Liam Lambert and Christian Robinson converted their spot-kicks for Field but Lewis Forsythe and Nick Doherty missed.

Field manager Matt Vickers said: "That's two consecutive years that we have been eliminated by a penalty shoot-out."

* FIELD moved up to fifth in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division with a 2-1 win at Carlton Athletic. Steve Bargh and Tom Ponter scored for Field but their involvement in the cup subsequently dropped them to seventh.
