Bulls coach Steve McNamara has thrown Glenn Morrison's name into the hat as a potential winner of the Man of Steel award.

After watching the second-row forward give another dynamic performance in their 10-4 defeat of St Helens at a rain-soaked Grattan Stadium on Friday night, McNamara said: "I know other names have been mentioned for the Man of Steel but Glenn has been a fantastic addition to our side.

"He is superb week in, week out, and not just for what you see on the pitch, but for his overall involvement at the club."

McNaMara's comments about the 31-year-old Bulls vice-captain, who joined the club during the close season from Parramatta Eels, have been backed up by Andy Lynch.

The Bulls prop said: "Glenn arrived early in England so he was ready for the start of pre-season training and has taken things on from there.

"A lot of people don't see everything that he does on the pitch but he does the dirty work that others might not want to do. Glenn also comes up with little plays that can get us out of trouble."

Lynch added: "I remember one instance when we played Catalans. He was putting on kick pressure in their 40 but still got back to make a vital tackle in the same passage of play.

"Despite his age, he is the fittest player at the club and is well respected too. He is always on hand to give advice to the younger players."

Morrison's fellow Australian Ben Harris agreed with McNamara and Lynch, saying: "Glenn has to be right up there as a Man of Steel contender.

"In every game he plays he gives 100 per cent and he has been one of our best players.

"I think he played for the full 80 minutes on Friday. He has skill but does the hard work too, and off the field he's a great guy."
