FARSLEY Celtic have begun preparations for life in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division with the signings of Brighouse Town trio Kurt Harris, James Pollard and Luke Parkin.

The Celts returned to the third tier of the non-League system in April after a 4-2 victory in the play-off final over Ossett Town.

Striker Parkin scored 14 goals for Town last season, while centre back James Pollard added six as the side finished ninth in Evo Stik Division One North.

Farsley were helped in their efforts to sign the Brighouse trio after the latter club's manager Paul Quinn stepped down – a situation which created uncertainty within the camp at the Dual Seal Stadium.

The Celts also have a new manager in Adam Lakeland, who is keen to start his tenure at Throstle Nest on the front foot.

He said: "When I initially came in, the squad was unbalanced. There were three goalkeepers and seven midfielders – that meant we had ten players out of an 18-man squad covering just two positions.

"Our squad was thin on the ground, so we would have had to get some new players in anyway. I think that the ones we have brought in have improved the club.

"There may be more changes before the squad is finalised and we're looking forward to working with them."

Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Jordan Deacey – son of former joint-manager John – has penned a new contract with Farsley and joins Nathan Turner and goalkeeper Jake Lofthouse in committing to the club.

However, right back Aaron Hardy has left for Tadcaster Albion. Hardy, who captained the side last season, has switched to the Brewers along with Aiden Savory, Peter Davidson and Chris Howarth.

Lakeland said: "A couple of players have been moved on and a few that I would have liked to stay on have also gone. We spoke to them but they have either had better offers or just decided it was the right time to move."
