BRADFORD Park Avenue have begun their squad redevelopment by releasing six players.

Goalkeeper Jon Worsnop, strikers Emile Sinclair, Chris Sharp and Liam Dickinson and midfielders Aidan Chippendale and Sanchez Payne have all departed Horsfall Stadium.

Avenue boss Mark Bower said: "We've spoken to the squad a couple of times since the last game of the season and obviously this is the time of year when players move on.

"I think it's important that we started as early as possible because things weren't in place last season and the club suffered because of that. It led to a difficult start that made it tough for everyone involved."

The club were still in discussions with Darren Edmondson this time last year but ended up appointing assistant manager Alex Meechan during the pre-season.

Avenue drew their first three National North league games but then lost eight on the trot before Meechan moved to Academy manager and former Guiseley boss Bower was brought in the take charge of first-team affairs.

Bower said: "We've been speaking to our own players and trying to come to agreements with them and we will possibly have an announcement regarding a couple of new signings.

"We've been talking to the board and the players over the last couple of weeks, so we have got in mind who we want to retain and have identified some targets.

"I'm looking forward to it already and I hope we'll be announcing a few signings that will get the fans excited about the new season."
