MOMENTUM – it’s the key ingredient for any team in the play-offs.

And City should have plenty of it ahead of their semi-finals against Fleetwood.

They have got to be confident going into the first leg on Thursday after finishing the season with five home wins on the bounce.

I don’t see another team in there with better form than City, especially with the record at Valley Parade.

Momentum is massive as we saw last year when Barnsley came charging up on the rails to beat everyone.

I looked at the play-off picture weeks and weeks ago and at the time my only fear for City was Oxford.

I’d seen them play at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup and Oxford should have knocked them out. They were excellent that day and the Everton loan boy Conor McAleny looked excellent.

I thought Oxford would be a threat if they sneaked into the top six. So when City turned them over on Good Friday, that was a big three points.

For me, City have nobody to be worried about although we know from painful experience they must be switched on.

Let’s face it, last year’s play-off was an anti-climax. The Millwall tie was all over by half-time at Valley Parade.

Steve Morison and the other guys just bullied us at set-pieces and we switched off. It was finished as a contest.

The City lads who played in that game have had to live with that disappointment. They will be desperate to avoid a repeat.
