NATHANIEL Knight-Percival is ready to rock the 1980s look again at Bury tomorrow with his protective headband.

The central defender has had the seven stitches removed from the deep gash in his forehead which forced him to miss the Scunthorpe game.

But Knight-Percival will don the foam head gear once more in Lancashire just as a precaution.

He said: “My head’s completely fine now but I’ll wear it again this weekend just to be safe and then we’ll assess it and see what the physio says.

“Once you get playing, you don’t notice it. Wearing it doesn’t put you off or anything.

“The impact when you head the ball feels exactly the same. It’s just a bit of foam and strapping, so it’s not a problem.”

There were no issues for Knight-Percival on his return last week as City battled their way past Walsall with a first clean sheet in four games.

It was not a pretty win but the season has reached the stage where only points matter and Knight-Percival is braced for a similar tight battle against a Bury side desperate to avoid the drop.

He said: “You do whatever you can to get results and we’ve been doing that over the past few weeks. We’re happy with how we’re going.

“Coming towards the end of the season can always be a bit tricky. The dynamics of the games change.

“Performances can become a bit scrappier because everyone is fighting for things.

“Bury will be another game like that because they are fighting to stay in the league. We know it’s going to be tough.

“But sometimes you have to play the game however it comes. Each one is different and you never know how things will pan out.”

Knight-Percival admits he has no specific points target in mind to clinch play-off qualification in a tright League One battle.

“I genuinely don’t know,” he laughed. “I know it sounds obvious but we’ve just got to win games. If we win all five, we’ll definitely be there.

“I’m not one of these people who studies every result from every team.

“We’ve just got to concentrate on ourselves, pick up as many points as we can in the last few games and then see where we are.”
