CITY have dropped out of the race for Barrow left back Nick Anderton, the T&A understands.

The Bantams are in the market for a left-sided defender with Matt Kilgallon likely to miss the rest of the season.

But it won't be 20-year-old Anderton, who has earned rave reviews with Barrow in the National League this season.

Wolves and Rotherham are also keeping close tabs on the former Blackburn youngster and City are believed to have declared an interest.

Barrow boss Paul Cox today confirmed that they had rejected bids for a couple of their players.

Cox said today: "Over the weekend the club have received written offers for certain players. The offers that have come in don't meet the club's valuation."

City are likely to look elsewhere for a youngster as cover for James Meredith.
