Leeds United could miss out to Division One rivals Nottingham Forest for the signature of midfielder Alan Thompson.

Thompson was one of the few Leeds players to emerge from last season with his reputation intact but as he was on a short-term contract, he is now a free agent and able to negotiate with other clubs.

Dennis Wise is keen to bring him back into the Elland Road squad but faces stiff competition from Colin Calderwood at Forest and Phil Brown, a former team-mate of Thompson, at Championship club Hull.

Radostin Kishishev, another player who did well in a loan spell at Leeds last season, has returned to the Championship, leaving Charlton to sign for Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Leeds have again fallen foul of the police. Having had their match at Bournemouth switched to midweek on police advice and been told they need to pay their police bills before matches at Elland Road in future, they have now been forced to move another match.

The first visit to Huddersfield since 1987 has been switched from Easter Monday to the following day, March 25, kick-off 7.45pm.
