BRADFORD City, enduring their worst start to the season in more than a decade, take on in form Women’s Premier League (North) newcomers Leicester City at Eccleshill tomorrow hoping to stop the rot.

A superb 5-1 win at Stoke two weeks ago has been followed by successive defeats at Derby County and Huddersfield Town.

At Derby a 3-0 half time deficit proved too much to overturn and a late Hannah Campbell goal was all City had to show for their efforts in a 3-1 defeat .

Then, in midweek, it was City who took the upper hand with the first goal at Huddersfield Town, through Campbell again, but Town hit back to win 2-1 with goals from Kate Mallin and Emily Heckler.

In contrast, relegated Guiseley Vixens are unbeaten in Division One. An early goal from Sarah Danby was cancelled out by Chorley on the half hour but three goals in the last 20 minutes through Danby, Liz White and Chantelle O’Hara secured a 4-1 win and set them up for their West Yorkshire derby with Brighouse Town in midweek.

Alarna Fuller gave Guiseley the lead at Brighouse before another second half burst saw Liv Thackeray (2), and Emily Scott complete a 4-0 win to keep their side well clear at the top.

There was disappointment all round in the Reserve Division with Guiseley’s Development side going down 5-0 at Newcastle, Brighouse Town losing 2-1 at Huddersfield Town and City’s game at Hull City being postponed.

Tomorrow City are at home to Huddersfield Town, Guiseley are at Hull City and Brighouse Town are at Middlesbrough.

Bradford Park Avenue’s struggles continue in the West Riding County League Premier Division and even a League Cup tie with First Division neighbours Bradford City A brought no joy.

Avenue had only ten players to start with and soon lost Josie Windle through injury.

Stand-in keeper Annie Roberts did well for Avenue and though they were trailing 1-0 at the break, with Sanah Razaq scoring for City, they had a full complement by the start of the second half and forced an equaliser through Jade Nelson. But, in the end, fortune favoured City who won 4-3 on penalties.
