KYEL Reid remains on City’s radar but may not be a priority target.

The popular winger was widely tipped to make a permanent return to Valley Parade this summer after being released by Preston.

But that was before Phil Parkinson left for Bolton last month.

Stuart McCall’s rebuilding plans include one more winger and, while there has been contact, the City chief confirmed the 28-year-old is only one of many names under consideration.

McCall said: “I think Kyel’s been away on holiday but he’s going to have a few options. He is one on a long, long list of interest.

“I have spoken to his agent, because he’s Mark Marshall’s as well, but we’ve talked to a lot of people.

“We’ve got (Filipe) Morais, (Paul) Anderson and Marshall but we’ll probably look for another in the wide areas.”

Reid’s 40 loan appearances last season took his total to exactly 150 in two stints at Valley Parade. His arrival at the start of October rejuvenated City after a sticky first couple of months of the campaign.

He appeared receptive to the prospect of staying on when tentative talks began around Easter but that was with the previous ownership as well as manager.

Whether Parkinson tries to take him to Bolton or not, Reid is unlikely to be short of offers and any deal may not happen until later into pre-season.

Morais, meanwhile, has been nursed through the start of pre-season because of a slight injury concern and did not take part in the opening couple of days. City are taking no chances after the cruciate damage which kept him out for eight months.

McCall said: “Filipe came back with a little niggle in his knee. It’s not a problem but we just wanted to make sure everything was okay.”

Reports that McCall is keen on Leeds striker Lee Erwin have been played down. Erwin played under at him at Motherwell but is not thought to be in City’s sights at present.

They are currently running the rule over two strikers at training – believed to be German and Polish – and one could play in Saturday’s opening friendly at Guiseley if clearance goes through.

Another Motherwell old boy Tom Hateley is among the other trialists being scrutinised by McCall at Apperley Bridge.

The 26-year-old son of former England international Mark Hateley is a central midfielder who also operated under McCall at right back. He has been playing in Poland since January 2014 for Slask Wroclaw.
