Yorkshire Division Two: Moortown 51 Old Grovians 19
OLD Grovians competed well in the first half but three quick tries in the second half helped the third-placed hosts to a deserved win.
For the first ten minutes, the game was played in Moortown's half, with both sides getting turnover ball, but consistent attacks by the visitors paid off as Christian Baines scored from the rear of a collapsed maul.
Moortown replied with a try and a converted try but Old Grovians blew an opportunity when hooker Mathew Worrall knocked on a few yards out after a charging run.
The home side added a third try but the visitors kept in touch when Baines got his second try from a scrum ten yards out in the last play of the half, taking the tackler over the line with him and making the half-time score 17-12.
However, speedy Moortown secured the points with three tries in the first 15 minutes of the second half as Old Grovians missed some tackles.
Although Baines got his third try of the half, Moortown ran in tries number five and six.
Old Grovians will want to make their status secure for a second season next week by defeating Leodiensian at Elm Tree Farm.
