WEST Riding County Women’s Cup holders Bradford City go into this season's first-round game at home to West Riding County League First Division side Battyeford Belles SC tomorrow in the form of their life.

It has been an uncertain start to the season for City head coach Steve Winterburn but his side have certainly come good in the last week.

They came back from two goals down to beat joint-leaders Derby County and followed that with a 5-1 win over Guiseley Vixens in midweek.

Against Derby, City missed a penalty at 1-0 down, and then promptly conceded a second goal, but the day took a dramatic turn for the better as Hannah Campbell, Paige Crosby and Danielle Whitham struck to secure the points.

At Guiseley, goals from Shauna Legge (2), Hannah Cambell, Faye Boshell and Sarah Danby clinched the points for City.

Although Battyeford currently lead their division, ahead of the City A team, there are five tiers of the Women’s Football Pyramid between the two sides and that looks like being gap far too far to bridge for the Mirfield side.

Dewsbury Rangers, from the Third Division of the West Riding League, face one of the biggest games in their short history when they take on FA Womens Premier League giants Guiseley Vixens, at Wakefield Road, in their first-round tie.

Guiseley are seven divisions above Rangers in the pyramid and this is one experience manager Kirsten Thomas will find challenging, to say the least.

Rangers have begun the season well and goals from Emma Toothill (2), Rose Nash, Amelia Hill and Jodie Buchan secured a 5-1 win over Boroughbridge in their last outing.

However, while Guiseley are without a win in the FA WPL (North), after defeats this week at Blackburn Rovers and Bradford City left them anchored to the foot of the table, they are clear favourites to progress to round two.

Bradford Park Avenue, at Leeds side Amaranth, are also hoping to progress after a fine win 3-0 over Tingley Athletic.

Goals from Nic Chamberlain, Nat Bell and Sarah Huby gave them their first Premier Division win in the West Riding League.

In the remaining ties, Silsden go to Clifton Rangers, Tyersal are at Brayton Belles and Bingley Juniors (Women) are at Castleford White Rose.
