David Wetherall has been named City's Mr Consistency for the third year running but admitted: I'd swap it for three points on Saturday.

The caretaker-manager clinched his hat-trick last night after picking up the Telegraph & Argus most consistent player prize at the club's annual awards dinner.

And Nathan Doyle was back at City to make history as the first loan signing to be named the T&A/Bradford & Bingley player of the year - the award voted for by the fans. Doyle was joined at the presentation by current Hull team-mate Dean Windass, who once again collected the top-scorer's trophy, while Mark Bower was named players' player of the year.

Wetherall was delighted to retain his shield, which is based on the individual marks out of ten awarded by the T&A after each game. But he would much rather be cheering a victory against Chesterfield in City's must-win game this weekend.

He said: "Obviously it's always nice to receive an award but this has been a very difficult season for everyone. The only time we will feel like celebrating is if we do manage to survive."

City are four points below safety with only two games to go and Wetherall admitted he is still trying to work out how they slipped up against Leyton Orient.

"It's just so frustrating that we seem to keep finding different ways to lose games.

"Again we've done enough to win a game - we've done enough to win two games in that first half."
