Farsley 4, Ossett Albion 0

FARSLEY stayed on the verge of the play-off places in Evo-Stik Division One North after winning a tight derby by a big margin.

Struggling Ossett Albion played their full part in a close game but two own goals and a good display from Farsley keeper Tom Taylor conspired against them.

Lewis Trice was the first to turn the ball past his own keeper in the 27th minute, and it was the only goal of the first half.

The visitors could have been level by the interval had it not been for Taylor’s heroics and they made chances after the break.

But the game got away from them as the home side hit two goals in as many minutes midway through the second half.

Aiden Savory rifled in a left-foot shot from the edge of the area minutes before skipper Rob O’Brien applied a good finish to a good build-up. Dominic Riorden was the second unlucky Albion man, netting four minutes from time.

Farsley’s assistant manager Mark Jackson said: “It was very stop-start, especially in the first half, and you couldn’t blame the ref for that. He did okay but a lot of stoppages disrupted us.

“We got on top after the goal but Ossett came back at us until the two quick goals killed them off.

"I think that just broke their spirit but they are a decent team and worked hard and put us under a bit of pressure. I’m sure they will be fine this season.”
