PREMIER Division duo Stanningley Albion and Thornton United both kept alive hopes of the double in the Bradford Sunday Alliance League.
However, leaders Albion were taken to extra-time in the GOALS Senior League Cup second round before seeing off mid-table Division One opponents Bradford Horton Sports 3-2.
It was 1-1 after 90 minutes but Richie Barker completed his hat-trick for Stanningley in the extra period before Bradford netted a late reply.
Thornton had much the harder task on paper as they faced Bradford & District FA Cup holders West Bowling at Emsley's recreation ground in a third-round tie.
Visitors Thornton had a strong appeal for a penalty turned down in the first minute but went ahead when Dave Wilson netted a rebound after Ian Carradine had initially saved his shot – and they doubled their lead via Deroy White.
In the closing stages, White hit his second goal, before Andrew Bailey scored from the spot for West Bowling in a stormy last five minutes after two United players were booked.
Premier Division club George Hotel are also through to the semi-finals after they grabbed the only goal of the game in extra-time against Division One side Ventus United.
Mill Lane goalkeeper Martin Spriggs broke a leg during their thrilling GOALS Intermediate Cup tie against Lyceum, Lane edging it 3-2 to advance into the quarter-finals.
Liam Charles, Danny Harrison and Andy Maltby got on the scoresheet for the hosts, who had trailed 2-1 at one stage.
There was also plenty of league action at the weekend and, in the Premier Division, Peel Park climbed to second after an entertaining 5-4 home victory over next-to-bottom Napoleons Casino in a battle between under-strength teams.
Goal-scorers for the home side were makeshift striker Sean Jack (2), skipper-for-the-day Mark Shute, manager-for-the-day Steve Jarockyjn and match-winner Liam Roper.
Buttershaw Celtic beat bottom-of-the-table Bradford Moor 5-2, Jamie Brennan netting a brace for the winners, while Sandy Lane won 3-2 at Bolton Woods.
In Division One, Swaine Green triumphed 4-3 at home to Allerton in a top-of-the-table clash.
Chris Edgley nudged Swaine in front early on but leaders Allerton hit back with three quick goals.
However, second-half substitutes Antonie Burke and new signing Marcus Harper then made the difference for the hosts.
Burke's size, strength and speed helped him to reduce the deficit to 3-2 with a side-foot finish.
Then, after Nathaniel Dacres had been denied from Kyle Shah's cross, another Shah centre was powerfully headed home by Joel Ettienne to make it 3-3.
The winner came around the 89-minute mark when tricky winger Harper chested the ball down, swivelled and fired home a left-foot volley as Swaine climbed to fourth in the table.
White Eagles are now second after a 1-0 victory at next-to-bottom Wyke Rangers on a heavy pitch at Horsfall Playing Fields.
Jamie Bairstow capitalised on a lapse in the Wyke defence to grab the only goal – but White Eagles could not add to their tally, despite dominating the second half.
