Farsley 1 Salford City 1

THE honours were even in this top-of-the-table Evo-Stik Division One North clash as Farsley became only the second team this season to take points off Salford City.

The Manchester club, backed by part owners the ‘Class of 92’, were installed as title favourites before the season and were top of the table before kick-off.

It was a tight game with the sides cancelling each other out and the visitors needed a last-gasp equaliser to maintain their unbeaten record.

There was an early chance for Farsley but Marcus Edwards’ shot was parried and Rob O’Brien fired the rebound over. The pair combined twice more but the latter failed to keep his shot down while Edwards fired wide.

Lewis Nightingale was thwarted by the visitors’ keeper late in the first half.

The Edwards-O’Brien partnership eventually paid off, with the skipper converting Edwards’ 70th-minute cross.

Salford snatched a point when Gareth Seddon netted an overhead kick two minutes from time.

BRIGHOUSE TOWN turned their home game on its head to beat New Mills and bank a maximum from a seven-goal thriller.

Daniel Grimshaw put the visitors in front midway through the first half but goals from Ernest Boafo and Barrie Frankland saw Town ahead at half-time.

Two strikes from Daniel Douglas-Pringle in a four-minute spell gave the Derbyshire outfit a 3-2 lead but Tyrone Gay equalised in the last minute and James Hurtley netted Town’s injury-time winner.
