Bradford City take on Guiseley at Thackley tomorrow in the West Riding County Cup hoping to put their disappointing 3-1 defeat against Leeds United in the FA Women’s Premier League behind them.

City went 2-0 behind early on and, though Sarah Danby pulled one back before the break, it was Leeds who grabbed the final goal in the closing minutes.

The visit of Guiseley is another of those proverbial banana skins, with the North East Regional League side harbouring promotion ambitions.

Coach Julie Grundy has seen her side slip up in their last two games, with back-to-back 2-0 defeats by Hull City, but they cannot be underestimated.

Also in County Cup action are West Riding League side Silsden, who face a tough tie at home to Leeds United.

Bradford City reserves, who lead the way in the FA Premier League Reserve Section, enjoyed a 5-0 League Cup win over Stoke City at Rawdon Meadows to finish top of their group.

Mel Garside-Wight, still the club’s all-time record scorer, hit a hat-trick while Katy Woodcock and Molly Sharpe were the other scorers.

It is back to league action this week with a top-of-the-table clash at home to Sheffield FC.

Goals from Sophie Mitchell (2), Sarah Huby and Jayde Nelson saw Bradford Park Avenue collect their first West Riding County Cup Premier Division win, beating Pontefract SSC 4-2.

Ossett Town are still anchored to the foot of the table following an 8-1 defeat at home to Silsden. With a goal difference of -47 in six games, Town will not relish a visit from free-scoring Brighouse Sports.

Division Three leaders Bradford City A face Brighouse Sports reserves.

In their last game, City thrashed Deighton 14-0 with goals from Abbie Thompson (3), Annie Nicol (3), Amy Nolan (2), Jess McPherson (2), Laura Gadd (2), Amee Ruszkai and Ellie Rockett.

Huddersfield Town are through to the first round proper of the Women’s FA Cup after a nail-biting 2-1 extra-time win over Stockport County.

Town will visit the winners of the Chorley v Morecambe tie on December 1.

They are in League Cup action this week with a home game against Swinton Athletic.
