City are having a look at Newcastle forward Haris Vuckic.
Toon boss Alan Pardew is keen to get the highly-rated Slovenian international, who is 21 today, out on loan after missing most of last season with a cruciate injury.
And Phil Parkinson confirmed: “He has been training with us for a couple of days.”
It is thought that Vuckic, who likes to operate just behind the strikers, played in the behind-closed-doors friendly against Accrington yesterday. At 6ft 1in, he also has the build to play up front.
He made his return from a nine-month lay-off in pre-season and scored in his first game back against Stuart McCall’s Motherwell.
Discussions are still to take place regarding a possible loan but City will be hoping that Parkinson’s close friendship with Pardew can swing the deal.
City tapped into Newcastle’s youngsters last season when they borrowed defender Curtis Good and the Premier League side were impressed with the Australian’s improvement from his time at Valley Parade.
