Guiseley head to Ossett Albion for their latest friendly on Saturday as they take on non-league opposition for the first time in their pre-season build-up.

Steve Kittrick’s side began with a 4-0 loss against newly-promoted neighbours Bradford City and followed that by holding Huddersfield Town to a 2-2 draw.

The Lions played well in both games and got most of their squad time on the pitch against players from League One and the Championship.

The clash with Ossett will be another important step as Guiseley head towards the start of the new Conference North season.

Phil Marsh has been the Lions’ only scorer so far as he bagged a brace in the midweek game against Huddersfield, one coming from the penalty spot after he himself had been fouled.

The weekend’s warm-up games get underway tomorrow night, with Silsden hosting a West Riding County Amateur League representative side.

The Cobbydalers have played two matches already, against opposition from a similar level, and won them both.

Tomorrow’s game is part of the WRCAL’s preparation for an inter-counties knockout competition. They also play Brighouse Town on Tuesday.

Brighouse are in action on Saturday at home to 2012 FA Vase winners Dunston UTS in their third home friendly.

Town lost to a full FC Halifax Town squad in their first run-out and drew 2-2 with a youthful Huddersfield XI last Friday.

Albion Sports blew the cobwebs away with their first game since the summer recess in midweek and emerged with a creditable 2-2 draw against new landlords Farsley.

That will have filled Albion with confidence ahead of their weekend trip to the east coast to take on Hall Road Rangers.

Thackley came out of the traps with a double header last week, playing two games in two days at Marley Stadium.

But the only chance the players will get to impress new management duo Lee Clapham and Dave Morgan this weekend will be in Saturday’s short trip to Tyersal. That game kicks off at 2pm.
