Ossett Town 1

Guiseley 0

A clash in the UniBond Premier Division between two traditional rivals saw Ossett extend their sequence to a lucky 13 without defeat against Guiseley.

Matches between these sides have always been considered derby fixtures and this meeting had that edge.

Town have recently signed former Bradford City prospect Jon Worsnop and he kept a clean sheet in his second home' meeting with Guiseley, another of his former clubs, this season.

Worsnop was at Witton Albion the last time he faced Guiseley, made an error to allow them a goal but then went forward for a late corner to dramatically head in and claim a 2-2 draw.

Guiseley will be sick of the sight of Worsnop and Ossett following Saturday's result. They had most of the possession and created plenty of chances but had no luck in front of goal.

The visitors could have taken the lead in the second minute when Gavin Knight slid in at the far post but just failed to connect with Andy Wright's cross.

Knight had a shot saved by Worsnop while Scott Jackson and Matty Larkins mustered three close efforts in the goalless first half.

Ossett struck soon after the break with a superb finish from Carl Fothergill. He was on the end of a cross from the right in the 54th minute and rifled it past Guiseley goalkeeper Steve Dickinson.

Minutes later a cross from Knight was deflected by a home defender and the ball shaved the post as it went out of play for a corner, summing up Guiseley's frustration.

"They seen to have the Indian sign on us big style and are certainly our bogey side over the last few seasons," said spokesman Stuart Allen.

"They had a few chances in the first half when the wind was in their favour.

"We had plenty of possession in the second half but just couldn't make the breakthrough, while their only shot on target found the net. The statistics just don't add up sometimes."
