Bradford Park Avenue 1 North Ferriby United 4

A young and inexperienced Avenue were dumped out of the UniBond League Challenge Cup by North Ferriby United last night and once again it was nemesis Gary Bradshaw who did most of the damage.

It was the third meeting of the sides in cups this season and Bradshaw maintained his average of two goals per game.

He struck early in each half - at the back post to ram home a looping cross in the tenth minute and he was on hand to rifle in a low shot from the corner of the area in the first minute after the break.

In between those strikes, Ferriby midfielder Rob Smith had netted a well-placed, dipping drive from the edge of the area.

Avenue briefly threatened a comeback when debutant striker Luke Sherman fired into the roof of the net after turning his marker but the visitors eased through when Joel Hartley sprinted through before slotting a shot under the keeper nine minutes from time. "The result does not concern me, we have bigger fish to fry," said Bradford boss Phil Sharpe ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy third-qualifying round clash at home to Nuneaton Borough.

"What is important is that eight players have had a rest and five or six others have got valuable match time."
