Grantham Town 0 Guiseley 1

Guiseley's Indian sign over Grantham this season saw them winning the third meeting of the clubs to bank a valuable three-point UniBond Premier Division maximum.

It also marked Terry Dolan's first win since he took over as manager, his first three games in charge having all ended in defeat.

Under predecessor Neil Parsley, Guiseley had beaten Grantham in the league and knocked them out of the FA Trophy. Dolan maintained that run over the Lincolnshire outfit but the win came at a price.

"Gavin Knight was taken off to hospital and he won't be available for tomorrow's home game against North Ferriby United," said former Bantams boss Dolan.

"It looked serious when he was stretchered off but we don't think it is a break or anything as bad.

"Whether this first win is overdue or not doesn't matter because it has happened now. I thought it was deserved as well. We scored late on but we had looked really solid throughout."

Guiseley enjoyed the better chances in the first half, with Simon Sturdy, Scott Jackson and Knight - twice - going close. After the break it was more even, with Grantham hitting a post midway through the half.

The points were won when Jackson lashed a right-foot shot from just inside the area out of the reach of home keeper Gary Ingham. With less than three minutes remaining, it was difficult for Grantham to come back.

Ingham had done well to deny Knight a goal, saving a header and a later one-on-one in the first half. Midway through the second period, Knight also fired over following a good move but was injured in the next minute.

He took the ball and moved it on before being chopped down by a late challenge.

His right shin was causing concern, enough for the medical staff to want him to have an x-ray, so he was packed off to the nearest facility.

"Nathan Hay came off with a hamstring problem, so we ended up with five young lads from the reserve side out there - and they didn't do themselves any harm at all," said Dolan.
