SIR - During the recent US migrant crisis we've witnessed harrowing scenes as children have been separated from their parents and put in detention camps near the Mexico border.

Of course Donald Trump has received a lot of criticism for this recent policy but does anyone question the conduct of these parents? They are after all, breaking the law. And if their plight in their country of origin is so bad, why are they having so many children, or any at all?

I know these things are complex but at least this question is worth looking at. Shouldn't people take more responsibility for their own lives?

Illegal migration is a serious problem that's existed for years, in Europe as well, and no previous president or world leader has done nearly enough to solve it.
