SIR – I have just read that MPs are to vote for a four-day week. They want Fridays off as this will give them more time to spend dealing with their relative constituents.

May I be the first to champion the cause. These most diligent of men deserve the time off. In fact, I would propose that they should vote for more time off, say four days and only work the Monday for example.

This way they will cause less damage.
