SIR – Regarding the attitude of the public to shop assistants, Mrs Hall (Letters, June 14). No-one should insult the assistants, however some may bring it on themselves by not breaking off their conversation with their fellow work colleagues to deal with the customers straight away.
Can you please explain “There you go” at the end of the transaction? I always want to say, “Where do I go?”. What ever happened to “Thank you”?
